Sergio Bolzonella (Mayor of Pordenone) meets Charles MARINO (the first signatory to the petition calling for WiFi "Internet" free to the entire city including the suburbs)

Dear Doctor
I read with great care and with great pleasure the text She filed the petition in our Common.
I must say that I live Administration agrees fully with the requests made in the petition itself.
As you will recall, during the elections of 2006, I proposed to the city the creation of a Wi Fi system, which covers the part of the area and allowing free access to the Internet.
I thought then, and today I am strengthened in this belief that access to the network is one of those rights which are fundamental in this era for the promotion of economy, culture, relationships, information and exchange between citizens, expanding look to the world.
We set then in contact with the regional administration, which was led by President Illy, to see if the project was shared and supported by the Region.
We received a substantial consensus, and we were put in touch with two companies controlled by the region that they would, at a cost for us content, possible to put the system.
Since it was new to the Friuli Venezia Giulia, was neither immediate nor easy to achieve the result. However in 2008 we began to run the signal Vitttorio Emanuele and Corso Cavour square. During this year the President Illy Tondo replaced at the helm of Region and the new regional government informed us that he was not interested in supporting our project.
we had to rethink the entire project, look in the municipal budget the necessary funds, to find (via a tender) a technology company, which was also able to manage the network.
About network management, I must say that the decree "Pisanu" that you rightly mention, requires that wireless systems should be adequately equipped in order to recognize the user at the time of the system and enable the tracing of navigation.
Our project therefore had to face con i costi di riconoscimento e tracciabilità.
regard to the request to bring the signal even in remote areas, I agree . As already seen we cover the center of Tower and wish it well with other parts of the city.
course means making investments to go that far. My Administration will move in two directions:
a) since the budget law approved by little, the region has finally allocated a number (as low) to support such systems, we will request to use those funds;
b) knows how many companies in the telecommunications sector need to go underground with the city of importanti cavi di fibre ottiche.
