Sicily: ATM, a piece of Emilia adopted from Trapani

Towards the beginning of February I went to Sicily, where not much is known about the various TPL children (apart from the big cities such as Palermo, Catania and Messina), but, as I thought, are full of surprises and rare cars to find in other Italian cities. First stop is at Trapani, where TPL is controlled by ATM (Azienda Trasporti and Mobility Drills) Former UAA (Autofiloviari Urban Services), which also operates the nearby city of Erice.

The bus station is located in Piazza Trapani John Paul II, from where almost all the trunk lines, except line 1, from nearby Via Ilio, and line 10, passing through the old town, and that part Piazza Vittorio Emanuele (about 500 meters from the terminal).
Now to the ATM fleet. Whereas ATM BredaMenarini Trapani is authorized workshop for the province of Trapani, which already includes most of the cars are BredaMenarini. In fact, most models that we can meet are BMB 240 of the first series of 2001, and the most recent BMB 240 AVANCITY 2005. Besides them, there are also smaller cars, used for the lines that pass through the historic center, lines and low turnout. A look at the past, we know that Trapani was very popular Fiat 418 AL in the IMER Body, Room, Minerva and Breda Pistoia.

INBUS U210FT n.76

One of the old stars left the ATM of Trapani are without a doubt these Inbus U210FT 1986. Seeing the RS logo on the side of the bus near the front door, you understand that this bus was purchased with the contributions from the Region. During my vacation I saw only two turn this, still wearing the orange 76 car ministerial, and the car 80 in new livery biverde, as the most recenti BMB 240.

IVECO 7.9
EUROPOLIS n.115

means small, we find many in Trapani. Like this Europolis of 2001, which has been circulating all day on line 10, which connects Piazza Vittorio Emanuele to the historic center. With the availability of electric minibuses also, it is strange that they use diesel cars for this line that crosses the city center.

BMB ZEUS n.122

The ATM also has some electric minibuses used mostly on a line and sometimes Line 2 (dinner only), the lines most often to be seen, as are many day trips. These are BredaMenarini Zeus, bought in 2003, to replace other means children not very environmentally friendly as the Tom Thumb older or old Fiat 418.

M240 BMB AVANCITY LU n.135

The most modern methods that can be found in Trapani, apart from Zeus, are BredaMenarini AVANCITY M240 fuel oil, purchased new in 2005, and present, as in the first 240 series, both in long by 12 meters, both in the short version by 10.5 meters. Even AVANCITY run throughout the day, until late evening, and on virtually all routes except those where turn means smaller

AUTODROMO POLLICINO TH n.143 former ATC BOLOGNA n.2301

Here the surprises begin. I discovered that Trapani has bought many second hand vehicles from ATC Bologna, both in size long (12 meters) of small size. Here we are faced with un'Autodromo Thumb TH 1994, ritargato in 2007, former coach of 2301 ATC Bologna. All cars ex ATC Bologna (or at least those that I saw) remained in original livery, as this is how the car 145, Autodromo Thumb 20p ex 2208 ATC, still in red livery, as it was when he was struck in Bologna.

Menarini 201 / 1 LU n.147 former ATC BOLOGNA n.5075

If the former Tom Thumb ATC was a surprise, this car is even more. I knew that in the nearby city of Marsala attended the Menarini 201 / 1 ATC Bologna former, but not in Trapani. Here we are in front of 147, former coach ATC Bologna 5075 (in the back is the "kick" of the old freshman ATC). The interior seems rebuilt from the origin, with the validator ATM, but still with the regulations of the ATC Bologna. In addition to this, I Menarini turn saw another identical to this one, coach 148, ex ATC 5077, and another 201 with the orange line on the gray side (ATC original livery of the 80s).
